Teacher

Satoko Mitsuhashi(Pseudonym: Kishun Mitsuhashi), a professor of Nihon Kyoiku Shodo kai (Japan Education Shodo Association) and the branch chief of Setagaya of the association.

I was born and raised in Tokyo. I started calligraphy when I was 7 years old and started teaching in 2014 after I spent about 5 years in total in Australia and Hawaii. Since 2014 I have held lessons for children at Nozawa Ryuun-ji.

The life in Australia and Hawaii gave me a lot of experiences, especially as a mother to raise 3 children in a foreign country where I didn’t have my family or friends. That’s why I’d like to support mothers who could have difficulties raising their children in a foreign country through calligraphy. And as you might know calligraphy is one of the great, but not complicated ways to experience mindfulness. I would like you to have a calm and fulfilling moment especially when you are busy all the time taking care of your children, with calligraphy which is one of the most traditional Japanese cultures.
